The course
Course Modules — What You'll Learn
The course lives in the community and grows with the template. Here's the current outline.
Module 1: Getting Started
Installing Docker, setting up Claude Code, your first API keys, connecting your bank. The foundation everything else builds on.
Module 2: Your Business OS
CLAUDE.md, SOUL.md, and context files. Teaching Claude who you are and what your business does. The most important setup you'll do.
Module 3: Bookkeeping & Finance
Connecting Plaid to your bank, Beancount basics, the CFO dashboard, running your first financial report.
Module 4: Automations That Pay Off
The daily brief, invoice automation, email triage, receipt scanning. Setting up the routines that save you time every week.
Module 5: Marketing & Ads
Setting up Google Ads and Meta Ads accounts, keyword strategy for your specific business type, writing ad copy Claude approves, connecting conversion tracking, and running weekly performance reviews with the /google-ads and /meta-ads skills.
Module 6: Phone & SMS
Setting up a business phone number via Telnyx or Twilio, SMS automations for appointment reminders and follow-ups, voice response scripts, and integrating phone into n8n workflows.
Module 7: Multi-Business Setup
Running multiple businesses or revenue streams from one BOS — the no-business-bleed folder structure, separate P&Ls per entity, shared infrastructure, and cross-business reporting. Essential if you own more than one business.
Module 8: Advanced Automations
Everything else the real BOS does — email organizer that files and summarizes every inbox, receipt scanner that auto-categorizes expenses, weekly business review, CRM contact workflows, Cloudflare tunnel setup, backup and disaster recovery. The full autonomous operator layer.

Common Questions About the Kit
What is the Mattermost community?
Mattermost is a self-hosted, open-source alternative to Slack or Discord. The BOS community runs on Mattermost so there are no ads, no data tracking, and full API access for the Claude AI bot. You can DM @Claude directly or tag it in any channel to get AI answers. It's a real community with real people building real businesses — and an AI that knows the BOS system inside out.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You need to be comfortable with a Mac, willing to open Terminal once (we walk you through it), and patient with a 2-hour setup process. Claude does the technical work — you make decisions and answer prompts.
Does this work on Windows?
BOS runs on Mac, Windows (via WSL2), and Linux. The background schedulers are platform-specific — Mac uses LaunchAgents, Windows uses Task Scheduler, and Linux uses cron or systemd. The kit includes setup guidance for all three platforms.
What's the ongoing cost after the kit?
Budget $130–200/mo for the AI APIs and services (Claude Code, Anthropic API, Backblaze, and the open-source stack). The full breakdown is in the requirements doc that comes with the kit.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything runs on your machine, on your accounts. Nothing goes through our servers. We never see your business data. That's the whole point of a self-hosted system.
What if I get stuck?
The 1 free coaching hour covers most setup questions. Beyond that, $80/hr sessions or the $100/mo membership (1 hr/week) gets you unstuck fast. The Mattermost community is also active — real answers from people building the same thing, plus @Claude AI in every channel.
